Empowerment of Women and Adolescent Groups
Location: Laghman and Nuristan Total Beneficiaries: 40,520 Main-activities: This project aimed to establish health centers for women and girls in Laghman and Nuristan Provinces, Providing health-related awareness sessions. Psychosocial support services in targeted districts of each province, life skill training such as tailoring courses for female project participants, maternal and child health issues, prevention of child labor, involving community members and influential people. Establishing Men Boys Networks for promoting health-related awareness sessions in targeted districts of both provinces. Creating a referral pathway network for project participants introducing them to network hospitals for health-related treatments covering the financial expenses of the targeted beneficiaries in both provinces. Goals: Enable women and girls to have access to health services, and enhance the level of knowledge of the most vulnerable communities in Laghman and Nuristan provinces. Key achievements: Over the course of efforts in the Laghman and Nuristan Provinces, through this intervention, AWEC achieved significant milestones in improving healthcare access for women and girls. One of the key accomplishments of this project has been the establishment of Women and girls friendly spaces specifically designed to cater to their needs. These centers became a space where women and girls can comfortably seek medical assistance and receive high-quality care. Besides health-related treatments and targeted people in both provinces received PSS awareness, life skill training as a primary source of income in their provinces. Additionally, the established referral pathway covered a considerable number of women and girls in health-related treatments, involving community members and influential people in promoting health-related awareness sessions.
