Emergency Response to the Flood-Affected Families in Logar

Location: Logar Total Beneficiaries: 199 Main activities: Screening and Identifying flood-affected families for humanitarian support in Logar province, Assessing the identified families for support, distribution of Non-Food Items (NFI) kits, and providing hygiene awareness to flood-affected families Goals: Shelter repair assistance (Distribution of Cash) and Supporting flood-affected families in Logar province, improving hygiene practices and access to life-saving WASH services appropriate and relevant to their immediate needs. Key achievements: In this project AWEC provided support for more than 194 flood-affected families received cash assistance (480$ per household) to repair the destroyed houses. 194 flood-affected families received Non-Food Items (NFI) Kits. 194 flood-affected families received cash assistance (150$ per household) to repair/upgrade their latrines. 105 beneficiaries were reached through hygiene promotion sessions and were given awareness on hygienic education and practices to maintain their personal and environmental hygiene. Through hygiene promotion sessions, these beneficiaries were informed about the importance of personal and environmental hygiene to avoid all sources of infectious diseases. The hygiene promoters practically showed the community how to wash their hands, brush their teeth and clean the environment. Meanwhile, 800 hygiene promotion material distributed among the residents of Khushi province to increase their information regarding best hygiene promotion practices.
