Amplify Change: Supporting Women’s Rights in Afghanistan
The overall objective of Mina’s List is to increase women’s equal and substantive political representation in national governments globally. Mina’s List (ML) was launched in 2015, in support of Afghan Women’s Network (AWN) and Afghan Women’s Educational Center (AWEC) and financial support of UN Women Afghanistan for phase I is conducted and phase II will soon be conducted.
While Phase I and Phase II will focus on aspiring women candidates. Phase III will focus on all women candidates in 2018 parliament candidates and voter and civic education in order to:
- Raise awareness of women voter of their civic rights and responsibilities in the election 2018
- To build the knowledge and understanding of women candidates to commit to promote women’s rights in legislatives
- Strengthen relation and increase accountability between women in civil society and women leaders for greater women rights improvement in the country
AWEC in partnership with Peace is Loud and AWN like to reach to at around 50% or 100 women parliamentarian candidates; those who have not previously participate in other phases (I and II of Mina’s List) and have no former experience of Afghan parliament. The training conducive package of Mina’s List earlier training material on the content will be focused on Parliamentary process and procedure, women’s right legislative and policies and its implication for women, networking and solidarity building with women activities and exclusive security training.
