Mary Akrami, Chairperson
Mary Akrami is the Director of the Afghan Women's Network (AWN),Ms. Akrami has been engaged in advocacy and campaigning for women’s inclusion within the political and peace processes that included the 2010 Peace Consultative Jirga & the 2011 Grand Assembly for Peace Process.
Because of her struggles for women’s rights, Ms. Akrami received the International Women of Courage Award from the United States, Department of State in 2007. Ms. Akrami has participated in numerous international conferences and regional platforms for women in peace in Af-Pak region.
Ms. Akrami is an alumni of New York University’s Human Rights Advocacy Fellowship in New York, United States.

Shahida Barmal, Board Member
Special Investigation Team Member at (AIHRC)
Mrs. Barmal currently holds the position of Special Investigation Team Member at AIHRC. ShahidaBarmal has over twenty years of experience in the field of human rights, thirteen of which have been with the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC). , Mrs. Barmal was a member of the Emergency Loya Jirga in 2001, a member of the Loya Jirga for peace and reconciliation in 2010, and a member of the cultural Loya Jirga in 2011.
Shahida Barmal graduated from the Social Science Institute in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1985. She has participated in international workshops and conferences in South Korea, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Hossai Haidari Roshan, Board Member
Deputy Director of Afghanistan Vocational Training Institute (AVTI)
Hossai Haidari Roshan is the Deputy Director of Afghanistan Vocational Training Institute (AVTI). She was previously a manager at Roshan Child Care Center at Maryland, USA. While in exile in Pakistan, Ms. Hossai founded and managed Fatima Zahara High School for girls funded by USAID. She was also a freelance language teacher of Dari and Pashtu. She has spearheaded several projects for the promotion of Afghan refugee women and girls in the refugee camps of Pakistan. Hossai Roshan has a postgraduate degree from Sydney University Australia
Masood Karokhail, Board Member
Director of The Liaison Office (TLO)
Mr. Karokhail is a founding member and current director of The Liaison Office (TLO) in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is an expert on governance, tribal issues, and political economy of Afghanistan. He has authored several articles on these subjects.
Mr. Karokhail’s professional experience includes admin at Development & Humanitarian Services for Afghanistan (DHSA) in Pakistan, Afghanistan country manager at Unilever, founder of the Afghan Civil Society Forum (ACSF) at Swisspeace. He has also participated in international conferences and workshops.
Mr. Karokhail is an alumnus of Preston University in Peshawar, Pakistan holding a BA and an MBA in marketing. He was a visiting researcher in 2004 at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) in Bonn, Germany.

Abdul Rahim Ataee is the treasurer and deputy board member at Afghan Women’s Educational Center (AWEC). Ataee has a Master degree in finance from Preston Institute of Management Science and Technology Karachi. Ataee has extended experience in financial management in national and International organization. Since 1993 he is working in financial field in Development and Humanitarian Services for Afghanistan (DHSA). He joined with Swisspeace as finance manager 2004 and later worked with Heinrich Boell Foundation as Finance coordinator, where he worked for 10 years. Ataee currently serve as deputy director and oversee financial management at The Liaison office (TLO) in Kabul.
